President Peter Beadle presented Pride of Workmanship nominee Gregory Benge with more than a certificate. Gregory was also presented with a Laptop and mobile Broadband package to the value of $1,500.00 including 1 year internet subscription.

Gregory is an indigenous mature aged student from Green Valley who has completed Certificate IV in IT General in 2010 and is studying full time for his Diploma this year. Gregory has been working his way through the courses without the aid of a laptop, and nor has he been able to afford an internet connection to the home. Greg’s PC at home is then all but a relic. The library at Miller TAFE College has become a second home and Greg is also religiously at directed studies where students have the opportunity each week to do their homework in allocated classrooms with Teachers on hand to assist with queries. There were no computers when Gregory went to school the learning curve has been harder and longer. Gregory is striving to complete his diploma and get a job on an IT Help Desk

Greg is then one of 7 nominees from 7 faculties at the Miller TAFE College that will be attending the Rotary Presentation night on 31 May whereby all 7 are vying to have their name recorded on the Rotary Club of Liverpool West Student’s Honour Role, which now consists of 2 wooden plaques and is displayed at Campus listing chronologically each winner and the faculty since 1978, following the Colleges establishment in 1977. Each nominee will receive $250.00, a meal for two, a plaque and a certificate. The person judged to have their name on the honour role will received a further $250.00.
