President Les Thornton of RC Ipswich North has provided a “Thank you” and an update on the use of the moneys forwarded by our District 9690.
District 9690 has donated the substantial amount of $78,781.00 to his club’s project that supplies gyprock sheeting to residents who have suffered flood damage to their properties. President Les writes:
“Our project delivers the sheeting into each property and then a team of volunteers consisting of the property owners and their family and friends, Rotarians, Apprenticeships Queensland, Karalee Community Committee, retired builders and Habitat for Humanity with their Brush with Kindness program help to fix the sheeting to the walls. The Ipswich City council has also been supplying a $500 vouchers for the supply of paint and villaboard suitable for sheeting the wet area of the property to these owners.
“To date we have supplied approximately 38 properties with gyprock and with your recent donation we will go a long way to relieving the misery that some of these people have been experiencing. I am sure that their lives will get a lot better thanks to your District’s generosity. In some suburbs only about 1 in 20 of the damaged houses have been repaired even if they were covered by insurance, hopefully this will begin to change now.
“Some of the recipients burst into tears when the gyprock is delivered.”
Of the funds sent by District the Liverpool Clubs were responsible for raising about $55,000.00. Give yourselves a pat on the back.
