Important Dates;
29th July 2011 - Nominations Close for ROYA Candidates
13th August 2011 - Blacktown Workers Club - Judging Day for ROYA
1st September 2011 - ROYA Awards Presentation Evening
Objectives of Rotary Recognition of Youth Awards are threefold:
1. To recognise in each local community the effort and involvement of the nominated candidate in areas beyond normal school and family life.
2. To provide for the nominated candidate valuable experience in a panel interview situation.
3. To make known to the public at large, as far as possible, the depth and extent of activities in the community in which our youth are involved.
For the past 31 years, the Rotary Clubs of Rotary District 9690, embracing much of Sydney's Western Suburbs and the Blue Mountains, have conducted a program to recognise young adults’ achievements in their local areas.
Two Award Categories;
1. Junior - Years 9 and 10
2. Senior - Under 20 years of age
The awards will be presented to the persons who demonstrate a conscientious participation within the community, their school or TAFE College and their general involvement in sports, hobbies, youth or interest groups.
The winner will not necessarily be the cleverest, the fastest or the most proficient in each or all of the award categories. They will be a person who is involved, concerned and aware of their responsibilities and opportunities. The personal qualities of the winner will show that they are prepared to work and support these social ideals which are in the best interests of our local community.
2011/2012 ROYA Chairman is Shann O’Connell
