Ltr from DG Marilyn: “A family at Auburn needs assistance for a special needs child - girl is a refugee from Sudan - is about to turn 6 - has multiple disabilities - caller is fostering her - has had her for 3 years - cerebral palsy - hydrocephalus - shunt in her brain - can't walk. Would like to know if Rotary can assist in getting equipment for her?
The equipment is actually an Otto Bock Horizon Stander. This particular standing frame is as recommended by the child’s physiotherapist – as “to give the stability and support needed as well as being adjustable as she grows”. The cost is $9000.”
9 clubs donating before our club took the fund pool to $6,750.00. Our Club voted on 28 June meeting to contribute $1,000.00, leaving $1,250.00 to go. With more than 20 other clubs in the district the Stander looks secure.
