TONIGHT’S MEETING, CLUB REVIEW, JOKES

TONIGHT’S MEETING –

Tues 5 July 2011 – Casula Physical Culture Club – Linda Whyte – LCC, 6 for 6.30 pm

Now in its second year of operation, Linda will come to our club to give us an update. Last year our club sponsored the programme assisting in the subsidisation of the cost of members from families that struggle financially.

We also look forward to welcoming a contingent from the Cecil Hills High School Support Unit who will receive a donation towards the Cecil Hills High School weekend away for 35 disadvantaged children.

Tues 19 July 2011 - Green Valley Police Youth Camp – Constable Mary Bakijovski – LCC, 6 for 6.30 pm

As listed under Projects on our website: “This annual youth camp organised by the Green Valley Local Area Police Command take local teenagers who have come to the notice of the command on a weekend camp. The police officers volunteer their time to work with these kids and have had great success in building ongoing relationships. This camp has proved its worth year after year with a virtual zero re-offend instances”.          (See More….)

CommunityLIVERPOOL WEST 2011 PHD SCHOLARSHIP Presentation Night – 14 Jun 2011


Professor Des Richardson, Scholar Rayan Moussa and Dr Zaklina Kovacevic, (pictured at the end of this article) entertained members and guests with an introduction from Des and a presentation from both girls, prior to Kelly Martinez of Australian Rotary Health officially awarding Rayan a plaque as the recipient of the 2011 Rotary Club of Liverpool West & the University of Sydney ARH PhD Scholarship
Novel Iron Chelators are a promising strategy for Pancreatic Cancer. The target is NDRG1 with the studies showing it to be more effective than Gemcitabine          (See More….)

New Generations (Youth Programs)

YouthTHE SCIENCE EXPERIENCE 2011 - 2012 (For Year 9 & 10 Students in 2011)


The program provides students who have an interest in science with an opportunity to engage in a wide range of fascinating science activities under the guidance of scientists. Participants perform experiments in the laboratories, meet and hear senior lecturers in the lecture theatres, attend site visits and walk around and experience what it is like to be on the campus of a university

Youth2012 ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS (RYLA) – for 18 to 25 yr olds


Rotary Youth Leadership Award program is a no-cost to participant leadership seminar for young adults aged between 18 and 25 years. It is conducted on a district basis annually with participants sponsored by clubs.

YouthDISTRICT 9690 ROTARY RECOGNITION OF YOUTH AWARDS 2011 – (ROYA)


Two Award Categories;
1. Junior - Years 9 and 10
2. Senior - Under 20 years of age
The awards will be presented to the persons who demonstrate a conscientious participation within the community, their school or TAFE College and their general involvement in sports, hobbies, youth or interest groups.
