The Rotary Club of Liverpool is organising a local workshop on Mental Health First Aid to be held at Hunt’s Comfort Inn Liverpool over 2 consecutive days: Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September, for 6 hours each day and is limited to 20 participants. Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, where and how to get help and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective.
Participants will pay $30.00 to cover the cost of a manual and the course is run by a fully qualified instructor. The cost of the workshop is covered by Australian Rotary Health and the programme is funded by Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing.

A general overview of the Mental Health First Aid Workshop is then as follows;
First Aid is the help given to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained.
Mental Health First Aid is the help given to someone developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.
The course covers helping adults in mental health crisis situations and/or in the early stage of mental health problems.
