The Liverpool Western Bulletin Tuesday 16 Aug 2011 (Annexure)
Secretary’s Report from meeting of Tuesday 9 Aug 2011
The bitterly cold nights must be getting to some of our members as only a small contingent braved the conditions to attend tonight’s meeting. This was despite the return of five members from Vietnam.
Our guest speaker, Noelene Newton, must have had the same issue with the cold night air as she was also a no show to give her talk on Liverpool Oz Tag. President Ted was left to improvise and thankfully, the presence of Thomas Walker allowed for a small presentation on the inner workings of our telemarketing campaign.
Brief reports were submitted by the returning VVP members but most will be revealed at the presentation night planned for 23rd August at Bach Dung Restaurant, Canley Vale. Members and guests are encouraged to attend this informative evening which will also be attended by members of The Vietnam Vision Project and our Satellite Club.
A Certificate has also been received from Shelter Box Australia which is proof of ownership of Shelter Box numbers, 10384, 10385 and 10386. Half the funds for these purchases were supplied by students of Fairfield High School. A Certificate has also been requested with that school’s name and will be presented to the head Master, Mr Bob Mulas as soon as it is available. Students will be able to track the whereabouts of these shelter boxes by logging onto The Shelter Box Website and inserting the above numbers in the tracking icon. Mr Craig Tobler, General Manager of Shelter Box Australia advised me they are targeting schools in their endeavours to raise funds, so our affiliation with Fairfield High School for this project and others is an invaluable one we will be nurturing.
Next week, Dr. Felix Chan from The Eggtober Foundation is our special guest. This foundation has thought up a very novel way of raising funds for the treatment and prevention of Gynaecological Cancers. If the good doctor can brave the elements of the night, we should be in for a very informative if not interesting evening, but I will let the good doctor elaborate further.
In finalizing, I would like every Board Member to send me any information relating to their portfolios that they may want included in my weekly report. The aim of the report is to make it as interesting and informative as it can possibly be.
Regards,
Charlie |
