Federal Member for Werriwa, Mr Laurie Ferguson will not be available as the Federal Parliament is sitting that day, but has chosen to sponsor the attendance of two Legacy Widows, which we also sincerely appreciate.

We look forward to greeting our Mayor Wendy Waller and some high ranking Police officials including NSW Commissioner Andrew P Scipione APM, who is a strong advocate of the Rotary Initiated program which calls for nominations from the public as well as from the Police Commands. Commissioner Scipione was a main instigator the NSW Police Officer of the Year Awards to follow on from the local Awards. The 2nd Annual NSW Police officer of the year will be held on Friday 4 November at Doltone House, Jones Wharf Bay, hosted by the Rotary Club of Sydney and costing $95.00 a ticket. The Commissioner is now pushing for the awards to go national. With his reappointment to another 4 year term in the Top Job on Thursday 1 September 2011 he is in an amicable position to achieve this goal and we have 34,000 Rotarians in Australia to support him.

We look forward to greeting Ms Melanie Gibbons, NSW Member for Menai, once again and also Police Chaplain Keith Morgan who will lead us in Grace.

Our Rotary District Governor will join us on the night as will our District Governor Elect Keith Roffey and Immediate Past District Governor Marilyn Mercer all with partners.

Acceptances are coming in from business people in the community partly thanks to a wonderful promotion commissioned by the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce. Three of the Chambers Directors, Daniel Doherty, Tamlyn and Darren Cook decided to volunteer their talents to promote a worthwhile community project, utilising the Chamber Website, their skills and their contacts.

We also appreciate the wonderful support we have received from our Local Area Commands with Committee Representatives Inspector Siobhan Busetto of Green Valley and Inspector Mitch Newton of Liverpool. Commanders Ray King (Liverpool) and Steve Corey (Green Valley) have given us great support, with Commander Corey to be present on the night and Acting Commander Greg Tetley representing Liverpool.

All will enjoy the awards and brilliant Entertainment with Mark Bowden and the Fabulous Starstruck Showgirls on our 13th Annual Combined Rotary Clubs of Liverpool Police Officer of the Year.
