Following an address to our Club from Casey Walpole, Manager Client Services, Kari Aboriginal Services, our board has agreed to funding of $1,000.00 for an Indigenous Scholarship. The Scholarships are offered to Aboriginal students in years 11 and 12 across South Western Sydney. The purpose of the Scholarship Program is to provide financial aid to students and their families so that the student can meet the ongoing costs of higher education.

Casey Walpole is a very proud Aboriginal woman who lives and works in South West Sydney.  Casey manages a team of twenty two staff and oversees the operations of the multi-award winning KARI Clinic, a multidisciplinary health screening service for Aboriginal children and young people in out of home care.

Casey has been employed with KARI for 5 years and has a NSW Bachelor of Education and has previously worked in Aboriginal Education. Casey has been responsible for developing and coordinating a range of programs and initiatives that have benefited Aboriginal children, young people and families. These programs are centred on enhancing educational outcomes, self esteem development, life stories work, family mapping, relationship building and personal self development. Casey is considered a leader and role model in her community and actively works closely with young Aboriginal people in programs and initiatives to support healthy lifestyles.

As Client Services Manager for the state’s largest Aboriginal ‘Out of Home’ care Service, Casey ensures that retention to culture and connection to family and extended family and considered major priorities when implementing programs and service for Aboriginal people.

Through Casey’s current role she hopes to minimize the number of Aboriginal children and young people coming into foster care. She also has aspirations of entering politics one day in an effort to promote the Aboriginal issues. Casey’s application is strongly supported by this service and her community.
