Our International Services Director Joe Cauchi has announced that the Board agreed at their meeting on 10 October to reintroduce the program whereby members with 100% attendance for a month will go into a monthly draw from which the club will donate $100.00 on the winners behalf to the Rotary Foundation’s Centurion program in that members name.
Each year the club is asked to contribute a minimum amount equivalent to $100US per member to The Rotary Foundation Annual Program Fund and that contribution is treated as a club contribution to the Foundation, whereas the centurion program is a vehicle for recognising personal contributions. While a contribution as a Centurion does not count towards the Clubs annual Goal commitment it does add to their Club’s Annual Giving total for which the club receives credits towards Paul Harris Fellows. Designated Funds to Foundation programs such as Polio Plus do not count towards a credit for a Paul Harris Fellow.
The Annual Programs Fund (APF) is then the primary source of unrestricted support for The Rotary Foundation’s humanitarian and educational programs, primarily Ambassadorial Scholarships, District Simplified Grants, Group Study Exchange, and Matching Grants.
50% of contributions come back to our District to use for the programs we wish to support and contributions have the power to multiply by 3.5 if used by the District to support a Club’s Matching Grant program.
Every Member is encouraged to become a Centurion
The commitment is $100 Australian per year for as long as you are able to do so. The donation is then 100% Tax Deductible. On receipt of your initial $100 donation you will be issued with a pin to recognise your participation in this worthwhile program. If you chose to make your payment US$100 per year, you will also qualify as a Foundation Sustaining Member. You may return to this web article at any time should you consider same worthwhile to download the attached form.
The 2011/2012 Presidential Citation
This year’s Presidential citation requires 100% participation from your members by giving to the Annual Programs Fund. They require a personal donation from every member of your Club as an essential part of the citation, which means an amount from every member between 1st July, 2011 and 31st March, 2012. There is then also required $100US minimum per capita in Club contributions to the Annual Programs fund.
The Board may wish to consider some structured assistance for encouragement to members.
We would then only need to have a minimum net increase in membership of 1 as at 31 March as we can already tick other boxes required for President Ted and the Rotary Club of Liverpool west to receive a Presidential Citation. |
