President Tony Scarfone and the rotary Club of Liverpool Greenway invite all to join them at the Roma Function Centre Liverpool, 6.30 for 7.00 pm on Friday 28 October 2011 to celebrate Vegas style with entertainment by Grant Galea and Radio City Cats performing the swinging 50’s of Frank Sinatra to sexy Justin Timberlake. Secretary Charles advises: Seeing as the emphasis this Rotary Year is on Community based projects, it would seem worthwhile if we were able to get a table together and support our friends at The Aboriginal resource centre. Charles is then a definite starter and invites other members to join him.

Our Board on their meeting of 10 October has agreed to $1,000.00 scholarship assisting an Indigenous person through high School years 11 & 12.

The Rotary Club of Cabramatta will celebrate 50 years with Bruce on Monday night 7 November at the Liverpool Golf Club located at Hollywood Drive Lansvale. Bruce and the Cabramatta Club have been very supportive of our Club over the years and this is a worthy occasion and opportunity to reciprocate. Vocational Services Director Jock Cimino is calling for nominations from the community of people who give that little extra in the performance of their jobs, it may be that little bit of extra help to customers; it might be for pride in their jobs. The awards recipients and a partner are invited to attend a special presentation dinner as guest of the club and nominees received and engraved plaque. Nominations will be finalised as per our meeting of 25 Oct. The presentation night is a partner’s night starting at 6.30 for 7.00pm on Tuesday 22 November and will be in a function room with alternate meal servings at round tables of 10. Support of members is required to give this night the prestige it deserves and this may be done by not only attending, but inviting partners and/or friends. Rotary International Convention Bangkok, Thailand Sun 6 to Wed 9 May 2012

Immediate Past President Peter Beadle has advised he and wife Margaret will attend the Rotary International Convention in Bangkok in the coming month of May. Peter has then offered to look into travel and accommodation requirements for other members that would like to join them for this event. Firm interest has then been expressed by the Capras’ Cauchis’ and John and Doris Gibbs. Accommodation is being considered at the Pathumwan Princess Hotel situated in the heart of BBK main shopping at 444 MBK Centre and currently listed on the Rotary Accommodation site at 4200 Baht (approx:$140.00 Aus) including full American breakfast. The Convention is then by the nearby Impact Arena with a free shuttle service providing transport. Early Bird rates are available for registration at the conference with best rates available by 30 November.
