Our Newest members George Germanos and John Pillay conspired together to obtain some PR for our School Service Awards in our local Newspaper. Undeterred when they were told the Newspaper’s photographer wasn’t available, George got wife Karma to attend the presentation as photographer and submitted the material. Congratulations to our 2 Energetic New Members.

Assemblies were also attended by members Gary Halliday, Shann O’Connell, Jim Leahy and John Gibbs, with Jim Leahy, Jim Rudling, Bob Groat, Sam Capra and John Gibbs affecting deliveries.

23 Primary Schools eventuated in taking up the awards this year out of 31, with our efforts to be made to accommodate 10 High Schools as well next year
Member Jim Rudling who produces the certificates each year will be New Generations Director Next Year and looks forward to accommodating more Schools

The Cartwright Public School not only presents their nominee with the book, Certificate and Globe we afforded, but also presents a Perpetual Trophy and a plaque. Our Honorary Member Max Bunter was first a Principal of the Cartwright Public School 25 years ago and says that tradition was already in place when he became Principal

Cheryl Langford is the current Principal of the Cartwright Public School presided over their award as follows;

The Rotary Club of Liverpool West is pleased to have the honour of supporting Cartwright Public School in recognising outstanding young citizens. They commend all faculties and parents who proudly foster fine qualities in our youth realising a better community and shaping future leaders. It is a great pleasure for the Rotary Club to be associated with youth endowed with qualities that make them outstanding individuals. We look forward to our youth growing in their convictions which earn our pride and grow their respect in the community.

This student was chosen for their many outstanding qualities demonstrated at school. He has a love for learning and is dedicated to improving in all areas of school life, both inside the classroom and in extra-curricular activities. He is considerate of others and maintains role-model behaviour at all times. Mr Gibbs will you please present the award. The 2011 Rotary Club Citizenship award is presented to Marcelo Locardi-Rauth.

Congratulations Marcelo and thank you to the Rotary Club of Liverpool West.

Marcelo and his mother were both very proud of the award and came up after the Assembly to have a photo taken of the three of us with awards in hand.

Similar appreciation has then been expressed at a number of the other schools to which we were fortunate enough to be associated with this year.
Sincere apologies to the schools we did not manage to facilitate the awards to this year and we would be more than honoured if we are able to reengage next year.
