The Salvation and Cambodian Culture Association of NSW, the Khmer community of NSW, and others including Cambodia Vision Projects combined to raise just over $175,000.00 to help the flood victims in Cambodia.
The Cambodia flood appeal at Wat Dhammasamki Canley Vale on 4 December was attended by the Cambodian Ambassador for Australia and New Zealand and SBS Radio Khmer who uploaded a short video to Utube depicting Thida Yang introducing the Ambassador.
Mr Henry Ngai of ABC Tissues also called for rice donations with an initial commitment of 200 tonnes, while efforts are continuing so far over 500 tonnes have been donated. Monies are receipted through the Cambodian Vision RAWCS project, with our honorary member Max Bunter writing out the receipts and rice bags have been designed for each individual donor with bags to include the Rotary Logo. Rinna Ly of Poverty Aid 4 Cambodia, (also based in Cabramatta) proposes a distribution of 20 to 25 KGs per family, with 12 to 15 tonnes then sufficing a typical village of 600 families.
The table below then excludes rice donations
