Our last meeting, which was also The AGM, was a quiet affair. This came as a welcome respite from the hectic schedule our club has been entertaining.
Our President Elect, Peter Beadle did however successfully recruit a new board for 2010/2011. The new look board will be as follows. President Elect 2011/2012 and Club Services, Sam Capra; Secretary, Ted Mlynarz; Treasurer, David Goldston; International Services, Joe Cauchi; Community Services, Shann O’Connell; Youth Services, Peter Farrell; Vocational Services, Peter Houghton. On behalf of myself and the rest of our members, I wish the new President and Board all the best for their year at the helm of our club it is great to see new faces stepping up as well as some of our old war horses – a great mixture of new and old..
Next week our club will be holding our Pride of Workmanship Award Presentation Night (6:30 for 7:00p.m.). This promises to be a most enjoyable evening with the number of people attending already standing at over fifty including June Young (District 9690 Pride of Workmanship Chairman). We also have a tri-club Golf Day coming up early next year as well as The Great Debate which will again be a four way club event. Those interested in playing Golf or being part of our club’s four man team in The Great Debate should start making their intentions known early in the New Year.
Dates for hosting The GSE team from Nova Scotia have been allotted. The five clubs hosting them have been given the 5th march to 11th march 2010. Profiles of the visiting GSE team and team leader have already been emailed to you. Any suggestions for vocational visits and events are welcome.
John Gibbs is currently chasing outstanding monies owed for those attending our Christmas sojourn in Port Stevens. Please make his life easier by ensuring these get to him as soon as possible. Those who attended the Liverpool Art Show opening and still haven’t paid also need to pay as the club prepaid for these tickets in advance and now needs to be reimbursed.
Our raffle last night was won by Peter Houghton. Second prize went to Peter Farrell and third to John Gibbs. The Farmers’ Market has Kevin Walker, Steve Alexander, and Charles Hili attending the BBQ this weekend. Our raffle raised $105 and Joe’s fine session a further $55. A special thank you is extended to Joe’s brother, Vince Cauchi for attending our last two meetings. I hope we kept him informed of some great work our club is doing and if not, then at the least entertained him somewhat.
The raffle jackpot will be $110.00 on 1st December.
Charlie.
