Rotary Club of Liverpool West Inc.

Hi all and welcome to 2010, the year of The Tiger. The Christmas trees, baubles and lights have been packed away for another year. The Santa outfit is off to the dry cleaners and I have an appointment with the gym to get rid of the excess kilos I piled on through excessive partying.

Our end of year trip to Nelson Bay was a great success in terms of numbers that attended and the great friendship that ensued. Valerie and I thank you for making it a weekend we will always remember. Dinner at Milano’s just before Christmas Day was also a great evening. Forty people attended and we were all treated to great food and service while enjoying each others company. A special thanks to les and all the staff at Milano’s who made us feel right at home.

Now those festivities are out of the way, its time to again turn our attention to all matters Rotary.

Because of business commitments I was unable to attend our traditional Breakfast Meeting at Liana’s, but I have been told that we were well looked after by Lidia and Estella, next week we are joining Wetherill Park for their meeting at Club Marconi which is 7:15 am. for a 7:30 am start

Then, just to shake the cobwebs, we have The Tri-Club Golf Day scheduled for 19th January at Tree Valley Golf Club. Please inform me of your intentions whether playing, attending dinner, or both. We need numbers ASAP. Joe Cauchi will be making a brief stop over in Australia again and will be handling all the food requirements on the evening. What better way to kick start the new year. I also need numbers for those whom are attending the Theatre Night on 16th January. Peter Beadle has arranged for us to see “Wicked” at The Capitol Theatre with Dinner at the Marigold Restaurant. A bus will be picking us up from Liverpool Catholic Club at 5 pm.

The big event for the 2009/10 calendar is certainly the District Conference to be held in Forster.

District Governor Paul Reid has themed this conference as “The Greatest Show on Earth”. In keeping with this theme I would like you all to give some thought as to what our club should be looking at as our own club theme. You can imagine that clowns will be in abundance at such events so let’s try and do something a little different in keeping with the stature of our club. Those that have not committed to attending the conference and don’t want to miss the fun can still book their Big Top seat by contacting me.

Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Charlie.
