Today we attended a joint breakfast meeting with Wetherill Park Club. President Brian and his members were excellent hosts and Marconi Club catering staff served a very filling bacon and egg breakfast for all who attended. It was great to see the fellowship between members of both clubs during breakfast and then afterwards in the main part of the Club. President Brian also presented our club with their banner. On that note I will also be taking some action to reinvigorate and modernise the way we display our own collection of banners.

We now look forward to a number of events. Twenty one of you will be going to see The Stage Play, “Wicked”, on Saturday night, which has been organised by Peter Beadle. I am unable to attend but know you will all have an intellectually stimulating night. The Tri-Club Golf Day follows on Tuesday. This is shaping to be well attended judging by numbers that have been coming in over the last week. I look forward to seeing you all there and to enjoy the culinary feast our Joe Cauchi has planned for us.

Our board held a quickly convened meeting after breakfast today and decided to sponsor the newly formed Casula Physical Culture Club. It is envisaged they will carry our club logo on their uniforms as a reminder of our close ties and support of the community and indeed the youth who will benefit from our sponsorship. We wish the club and its founder Mrs Linda Whyte all the best in their future endeavours. They will do themselves and our club proud.

A number of the ladies have been asking about the wonderful Xmas gifts that were handed out to them at Christmas. You would be pleased to know they are the creations of our own member, master jeweller, Anthony Galea. Anthony has also done some exquisite work on a broach for Barbara Houghton and other commissions for members of Liverpool Greenway Club. He is also currently working on a piece of jewellery for me.

In other club news, I have been informed that Peter and Kay Farrell have sold their property and plan to move to Queensland. The only bright side I see in this is that their new abode looks quite accommodating for a club our size, should we all visit at the same time. On behalf of the club I wish them both all the very best for the future. Kay has been a great supporter of our club whilst also being a member of Cabramatta Club and the district spokesperson for Shelter Box. The community of Liverpool will no doubt miss the charitable contributions Peter and Kay have made over the years.

Charlie.
