We again had a depleted meeting last night which was expected with 20% of our members in Vietnam with the Vietnam Vision Team, 10% touring in places between Australia, Canada and the Danube,
Domini Stuart was our guest speaker and her topic was “Challenges & Choices”. She is a freelance journalist writing for a number of national publications, lives in the Blue Mountains and is about to become a Rotarian joining the Gnomes of Lower Blue. Domini related to us the personal health and family tragedies that she has had to deal with during her life and the ways she has and continues to deal with them on a day to day basis. The message was to set goals, but to be sure that they are achievable.
Next week Prof. Des Richardson will be our guest speaker and his talk will be on “A New Direction in Cancer Therapy”. Our Club and Australian Rotary Health recently funded a two year research project which was led by Prof Richardson at Sydney University into this subject. Des is an entertaining speaker and partner and guests are welcome to join us to hear this presentation.
Despite our reduced numbers the raffle raised $97 and fines a further $48.65. First prize of a Meat Tray was won by Bob Scott (Bob donated this to the Wednesday Tennis BBQ – and no it was not the same Meat Tray that Sam forgot last week), Sarah won second prize and chose the Chocolates, this left me as third prize winner with the choice of the bottle of wine.
