Adam was awarded a Sapphire to his Paul Harris Fellow on our Liverpool Police Officer of the Year Presentation night on 21 September 2010. This was thought to be a very deserving award due to Adam's dual commitment to Policing and support of Rotary Programs. To say that Adam is community minded, to those that know him, it would be an understatement. The committee to NSW Police officer of the Year obviously agrees as Adam was awarded a 2nd sapphire to his PHF at the NSW Police Officer of the Year on 13 November 2010. While same was a complete suprise to members we offer the following script offerred on 21 September in appreciation of someone we remain very proud of.

This year’s bicentennial event marks the twelfth Anniversary of our Police Officer of the Year and we have chosen to mark the event by expressing our appreciation for outstanding contributions to our community and highlight the shared ideals of Rotary, the community and of policing.
To this effect we have presented Paul Harris Fellows to 2 very deserving ladies in our community and one of whom is a Volunteer in Policing.
We would now like to call up Chief Superintendent Adam Whyte, serving as chief of staff to the commissioner, who we feel has made outstanding contributions to our community and epitomises the sharing of these ideals
Adam joined the policing in July 1988 and has remained dedicated to his career for now more than 22 years.
During his tenure as a professional police officer he took up an offer to join a Rotary Vocational program called Group Study Exchange.
He subsequently elected to join the Rotary club of Liverpool West where he was inducted in May 2003, while serving as a Sergeant at Fairfield Police Station
Adam’s contributions to Rotary have included the following;
  • Serving on the board of the Rotary club of Liverpool West
  • Serving as a member for the District Committee for Group Study Exchange
  • Organising a joint hosting and itinerary for a visiting Group Study Exchange Team
  • Organising Vocational visits for the Rotary Club
  • Promotion of the Rotary Group Study exchange program to fellow Police Officers
  • Promotion of the Rotary Pride of Workmanship program seeing several policing officers awarded
  • Performing the role of Master of Ceremonies for Several Club Changeover of President nights and Several Combined Rotary Clubs of Liverpool Police Officer of the Year nights
  • He has been a great supporter of the Police Officer of the Year night and his assistant in helping make the event come together year after year has been invaluable.
Since joining Rotary Adam’s continued devotion to his career has seen him in charge of various commands and advancements in official rankings to inspector in August 2003, Superintendent in July of 2008 and is currently serving as Chief Superintendent in the role of Chief of Staff to the Commissioner.
His contributions to NSW policing in this time included the following;
  • Commended performances in Local Area Commands, for his handling of staff, handling of local crimes, performance of duties such as in the Cronulla Riots and implementation of policies including curfews at the Goulburn Police Academy.
  • The role of Commander of Policy and Programs investing his talents in the Ministerial Task force on International Education and, the Young Offenders Advisory Council
  • A representative for NSW as a Council Delegate for Neighbour Hood Watch Australia
Police, Rotarians and community members alike find Adam readily available, with a caring attitude towards all matters raised and most willing and able to help. To this end the committee was unanimous that it is most fitting Adam Whyte, as a highly valued Police Officer, Rotarian and distinguished member of our community be awarded a Sapphire to his PHF on this Special Presentation night for the Liverpool Bicentennial Police Officer of the Year and it gives me great pleasure to now append this award to Adam.
