Rotary Club of Liverpool West Inc.

Congratulations to fellow Member Adam Whyte who was awarded a 2nd Sapphire to his Paul Harris Fellow on our NSW Police Officer of the Year Presentation night on 13 November 2010, a very deserving award due to Adam's dual commitment to Policing and support of Rotary Programs. To say that Adam is community minded would be an understatement. More info on our website under news then awards.
An Invite has been received to attend a free Prostrate Cancer Information Night on Thurs 2 Dec 2010 at Parramatta Workers Club, Garden Terrace and Lily Room, 163 – 165 George Street Parramatta. Coffee, tea and refreshments will be provided. Limited seating is available and registration may be confirmed by Tel: (02) 8741 5628 or (02) 8741 5653 or by email to:
Please let Secretary Ted Mlynarz know immediately if you intend to attend the Bathurst Conference in March, so that he may reserve suitable accommodation arrangements. Note conference registrations must be organised separately and early bird bookings close on 30 Nov.
On 30 November we have our AGM, Club Election and forum night. Same is then our 2nd last meeting for this calendar year at LCC, with 14 Dec being the next and last for the 2010 year.
The last 2010 bulletin for the club will then likely be for our meeting of 14 Dec 2010, and our first Bulletin for 2011 will likely be for our first LCC meeting on Tues 1 Feb.
The 14 Dec Issue will be planned for distribution on Wednesday 8 Dec 2010. Last chance to promote events for Jan and early Feb 2011
At our AGM we will also vote on the transforming of ShelterBox Australia into a multi-District organisation of Rotary International Zone 8. Relevant articles are then in this bulletin and can be found under the heading of Disaster Aid Shelter packages. There is than a link in that article for online readers to an article entitled: ‘ShelterBox or Disaster Aid Australia’, which is then included at the end of the PDF version.
Some other topics on that night maybe;
Where will we meet on 4 and 11 January?
Who will be our contact for numbers for the Tri-Club Golf Day and dinner to be hosted by Liverpool Club on Monday 17 Jan?
Are we set for a club picnic day on Australia Day Wed 26 Jan? What will it entail and should we extend invites?
Is there any substance to a networking night planned for Sat 5 Feb 2011?
What will be our approach to collaborating with Cabramatta Club whom is both host and our partner club for the Great Debate to be held on Mon 21 or Tues 22 Feb? Should the event be bought forward to make way for a movie night on Thurs 24 Feb? Should the designated venue be Hunts?
Should we engage in ‘Books for Babies,’ 23 Feb 2011 Rotary project? See relative info issued 16 Nov bulletin, this section
Do we have the Conviction to go to the movies on Thursday 24 Feb 2011 to help: End Polio Now?
How does Pastizzi with complimentary champagne sound at $25.00 and will we do it jointly with other clubs and share the credit evenly for donations to Polio Plus? See relative info issued in 16 Nov bulletin, this section.
What formal approach are we to take on assistance to the Pets Multi District? I note June Young wrote to her club and suggested to Liverpool Greenway members that they should be involved.
Do we wish to try March 15 as just a Bistro night or would we like to try just a fellowship night in the Garden Room?
Can we replace the bulletin editor and/or stop these questions?
Well first thing is first I guess. We need to have our AGM and establish our new board.
More Questions at a Stimulus Press Conference
Sometime this year, we taxpayers may again receive another 'Economic Stimulus' payment.
This is indeed a very exciting program, and I'll explain it by using a Q & A format:
 Q. What is an 'Economic Stimulus' payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.
Q. Where will the government get this money?
A.   From taxpayers.
Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. Only a smidgen of it.
Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.
Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?
A. Shut up.
Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the Aust. Economy by spending your stimulus cheque wisely:
If you spend the stimulus money at Coles, the money will go to China or Sri Lanka.
If you spend it on petrol, your money will go to the Arabs.
If you purchase a computer, it will go to India, Taiwan or China.
If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala.
If you buy an efficient car, it will go to Japan or Korea.
If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan.
If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.
Instead, keep the money in Australia by:
1) Spending it at garage sales.
2) Going to the football.
3) Spending it on ladies of the night or
4) Beer or
5) Tattoos.
(These are the only Australian businesses still operating in Australia)
Conclusion:
Go to a footy game with a tattooed lady of the night that you met at a garage-sale and drink beer all day !
No need to thank me, I’m just glad I could be of help.
