Heide Schooling, has been teaching voluntarily in a school Utawala in Mwamapala, Tanzania during 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Heide has now been promoted to head teacher and has made it her mission to educate more students to year 12 so that they can be more productive in their country.
Heide has identified that the school is running at 1/3rd of its capacity with a current enrolment of about 110 students. Heide sees that with some basic repairs, maintenance, renovations and refurbishments that the school would accommodate many more students and attract qualified teachers.
Heide is than looking for volunteers and or donations to assist her get the school up to capacity with the aim of making lasting and self sufficient improvements so that the school may carry on with local management and better serve the people of Tanzania.
The school is part of the Catholic Diocese of Shinyanga. The Bishop, his Eminence Aloysius Balina is aware of the efforts of Heide’s involvement so far & is in favour of it growing to an effective school in the district.
Challenges are faced with access via 4WD and the nearest town 300 Km away, from where supplies will be needed.
