Hearts go out to those that know of Kay’s story, suffering loss and the challenges that go with it including financial burden and the desire and needs to continue to provide for and nurture her son.
While Christmas may then well be a time for despair, Kay has 4 very special friends who have been working behind the scenes to inject Kay with feelings of warmth this Christmas
Linda Lambourne and cohorts have been fundraising and will use the setting of our Rotary meeting on 14 Dec to present Kay with their wares, including cash and a voucher providing uniforms for Dan’s next year in school.
Kay will naturally be wondering what’s going on when she arrives at our Rotary meeting as the girls have led Kay to believe they are taking her out for a Christmas get together.
The night then promises to deliver more warmth as the plight of Kay’s friends to assist Kay came to us some time ago through our Community Services Director Shann O’Connell and the girls worked on our Growers Market BBQ on 17 October to help with their fundraising at which Linda reported they had a lot of fun with the rotary guys, lots of cheek was given by all and we felt we had known them forever as they made us feel very welcome. I understand our Secretary Ted Mlynarz and now official President Elect is known affectionately as ‘Teddles.’
Members were touched by the plight of the girls and none more so than our BBQ egg expert Anthony Galea who felt compelled to do something also and used his Designer Jewellery skills to make Kay a special ring as a present for Christmas.
The board will naturally also enter the fray with a presentation of their own and while I am sure this outing will present Kay with some mixed emotions, the warmth that is extended will have a lasting and positive effect. We look forward to this Christmas bringing more warmth and cheer especially for Kay Morris and Son Dan and commend Linda and her cohorts for the manner in which they have reached out to ensure Kay of their love and care. May many others also be blessed to have such dear friends as yours!
