Topic: Will the World End as we know it on 21 Dec 2012 as per the Mayan (Long Count) Calendar
The Rotary Clubs of Cabramatta and Liverpool West will team up to argue: Yes it will.
The Rotary Clubs of Liverpool and Liverpool Greenway will team up to argue: No it won’t.
The Maya civilization collapsed around 1200 AD leaving behind plazas, monoliths, temples and pyramids, each decorated with pictures and hieroglyphs. Their civilization appears to be so advanced that it is believed they were in touch with extra – terrestrials.
The Maya utilised three calendars, the third being the long count calendar which records ages of about 5,000 years. The first age began with the creation of earth, subsequent ages dealt with events of global cataclysms and mass mutations caused by astrological forces, possibly induced by extra-terrestrials, resulting in evolutionary change. Importantly to us, they only recorded 4 such ages. The fourth began in 3114 BC and ends on 21 Dec 2012.
We know the Maya existed, and their calendars have been correct so far. So why would you ignore their calendar now, when surly you have to be proactive to survive.
If we can’t convince our friends from Liverpool and Liverpool Greenway that ignorance is not bliss and that survival maybe as simple as investing in a shelter box, then come 2013, there may only be Cabramatta and Liverpool West to carry on these debates, all be it from outside some bodies tent.
The boards of each club have never had a greater responsibility than to see to their representation of two good heroic type men or women from each club to take on this topic of cataclysmic proportions and vital to our very existence.
To all our members and readers, if you want to survive to see 2013, than you need to be there to hear first hand at the Great Debate.
Cabramatta are of course searching for a corruptable adjudicator, maybe a Politician.
Cabramatta are then the hosts of this event being held at Comfort Inn Hunts, Liverpool and next year Liverpool West will be the hosts for a final time in the world as we know it.
