Kirilee Cook of Raby, who turns 16 this year, has been selected to represent Australia in the 2011 Trans Tasman New Zealand Oztag. She will be competing in the Women’s U17s Australian Team. This tour will be held in Auckland, New Zealand. Players are required to travel to Auckland on Thursday 10th March 2011. A 5 test series will be played over Friday, Saturday & Sunday, with the players returning to Sydney on Monday 14th of March.
Kirilee is 1 of a squad of 19 selected from an area spanning from the central coast to Shell Harbour and the only one from the Campbelltown area.
Proud parents, Donna and Michael; advise Kirilee has been playing Junior Oztag in the Campbelltown area since she was 11 year old and consider their daughter’s selection a great achievement and honour.
The Australian Oztag Sports Association then requires Team participants to pay their own way with costs of approximately $1,000.00 including accommodation.
As decided at a board meeting after our meeting on 1 February, the Rotary Club of Liverpool West has agreed to assist this young achiever partake in this honour with a sponsorship of $200.00 to aid in the cost of travel.
