At last advice 26 persons are attending the conference at Bathurst
We will run a promotional store on the Vietnam Vision Project in the House of Friendship with volunteers from our club taking turns. Drs from Saigon Eye Hospital will attend with us.
Tues 22 Mar 2011 – Wise Employment – Kyrene Cabena, LCC, 6 for 6.30 pm
Kyrene is the School and Community Liaison Officer of wise Employment and will talk to us about wise employment in our community. Dr Nguyen, Hoang Can and Dr Tran, Huy Hoang from Saigon Eye Hospital will be our special guests on that night and our satellite club will transfer their lunch meeting to ours. Partners and friends are then invited.
Wed 23 Mar – 4 Apr – Vietnam Goodwill Trip
A group representing VVP and Rotary will be travelling to Vietnam to assist David Westbrook who will be filming and gathering information related to past patients and the affect on their situation/s following cataract operations. The trip will also be regarded as a “Goodwill Trip” with both Rotary and VVP having agreed to contribute financial assistance to enable distribution of parcels during village visits. Offers of assistance in Vietnam have been forthcoming and will be gratefully accepted Participants in this trip will include Ted Mlynarz, Charles Hili and Joe Cauchi who will then give us a report on Tuesday night 5 April when we transfer our meeting to the Bar Luck Restaurant.
Wed 26 Mar 2011 – NSW State Election - Charles, Joe & Ted intend to vote early.
Earth hour is then at 8.30 pm, whereby it is planned to leave us all in the dark as to the election outcome.

Sat 2 Apr – Tues 5 Apr – Children’s Circus Extravaganza – LCC Grounds
The Circus Extravaganza runs over 4 days located on the grounds of the Liverpool Catholic Club, whose support we greatly appreciate. This event may see up to 14,000 children and/or disadvantaged persons entertained from our community with admission paid for by sponsors. Our Club then has marshalling duties which are being coordinated by Gary Halliday and Member Peter Houghton will take on MC duties. Marshalls are asked to be on site a half hour before session times as follow; - Sat 2 Apr and Sun 3 Apr session Times: 10.30 am, 1.30 pm and 4.30 pm. Mon 4 Apr and Tues 5 Apr Session Times: 10.00 am and 12 noon.

Daylight saving will end at 3.00 a.m. on 3 April requiring setting clocks forward by an hour.

Our meeting has been transferred to a combined meeting with our Satellite Club. Al welcome: Partners, Friends, Potential New Members and Members too. Inductions of new club members will take place and their will be a presentation on the Goodwill Trip undertaken to Vietnam from 23 March to 4 April 2011 by members: Ted Mlynarz, Charles Hili and Joe Cauchi. The trip involved purchase of food parcels and distribution to Villages. RSVPs will be required by no later than 29 March 2011 to John Gibbs and/or Dr Hong.

PhD Scholar: Rayan Saleh Moussa will present on ‘The Role of Metals for Treatment of Cancer’ - and development of novel anti-tumour agents for the treatment of melanoma".
Rayan is supervised in his studies by Professor Des Richardson at the University of Sydney.
The aim of the research project is to examine the development of novel drugs for the treatment of melanoma. This work will be complemented by studies examining how these agents work at the cellular and molecular level to inhibit the growth of malignant melanoma cells.
Rayan’s Co-supervisor, Dr. Zaklina Kovacevic will also give a complimenting presentation on this night with Kelly Martinez from Australian Rotary Health to be our guests and Professor Des Richardson as our guests. See news article: “Club Support for Australian Rotary Health”

Members, Partners, guests and friends of Liverpool West and the Inner Wheel Club of Liverpool Combined are invited to join us in the warm environment of Aromas on Tenth and experience their enticing flavours of Modern Australian cuisine. You may bring your own (bottled wine only), with a corkage charge of $2.00 per bottle. We will here from Rita and/or cohorts from Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service and make a donation for their services on the night. Wed 11 May 2011 – Combined Services Dinner – LCC, 6.30 for 7 pm $40.00 pp
Guest speakers will be Major Joyce Harmer OAM and Major Hilton Harmer OAM. Joyce is well known for her work as “The Angel of the Courts” and Hilton is renowned for his work with the homeless community in Sydney and surrounding areas. The night will mark the Launch of the Liverpool Red Shield Appeal and the raffle funds will go to the Appeal. Our Club will run the raffle.
