Major Paul Moulds (AM) - Biography

Major Paul Moulds has devoted his entire life to working with marginalised and disadvantaged people in the Australian community. He has worked as a street outreach worker, at a telephone counselling service, at a homeless adult’s refuge and lived with his family at a home for ten street kids seeking to rehabilitate themselves. For five years he was Director of Youth Services for the Sydney City Mission. He has an Arts degree from Sydney University and in 1994 – 1996 he and his wife took training to become Salvation Army Officers. Following their commissioning, Paul was appointed to take charge of the Salvation Army’s work with homeless and disadvantaged youth in Sydney, and led the Oasis Youth Support Network through an amazing period of growth and development to become one of Australia’s leading and most effective youth services. In 2008 Paul’s work with homeless youth was the subject of an AFI award winning documentary, The Oasis, telecast nationally on ABC. In 2010 Paul and his wife Robbin’s work was recognised when he was made a member of the Order of Australia.

In 2011 Paul completed 15 years service working in the Oasis and was appointed to a new role to lead the social work of the Salvation Army in the Australian Eastern Territory. With his wife Robbin, Paul continues to be a passionate advocate for justice and the disadvantaged. A passionate communicator, he has represented homeless youth issues on a number of government and community advisory groups, and spoken at numerous events and forums.

Paul will be our guest speaker at the Liverpool Combined Services Dinner to be held at the Liverpool Catholic Club on Wednesday evening the 11th of May, which will serve as a launch to the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Door Knock Appeal to be held on Sunday 29th of May.
