We have a long and proud history of the Rotary Club of Liverpool West Miller College Pride of Workmanship Awards with the 31st annual night of the awards to be held on Tuesday 31 May 2011, being a Partner’s night, held at the Liverpool Catholic Club at 6.30 for 7.00 pm.
The College Manager, Teachers, Students with their Partners, family and close friends, are invited to attend the Rotary Club Presentation night together with Rotarians and Partners. On the Presentation night, the Nominees each receive the following afforded by Liverpool West Rotary Club;
- A free meal for themselves and for 1 of each of their guests.
- An Engraved Plaque
- A cheque for $250.00
An Overall Winner is announced on this night and will then receive a 2nd cheque for a further $250.00
A certificate for each nominee is then afforded at their College Graduation night as held by the individual faculties. Rotarians from our Club traditionally attend these nights to present the Certificate.
The Overall Winner has his or her name with their Faculty of Achievement added to the Rotary Club of Liverpool West Student’s Honour Role, which now consists of 2 wooden plaques displayed at Campus listing chronologically each winner and the faculty since 1978, following the Colleges establishment in 1977. The first overall winner then recorded is I. Pollard of Electrical in 1978.
Only one Student from each Faculty is chosen by their teachers in any one year. Teachers consider Academic results, the personal contributions made by the student to the classroom learning environment and the initiatives of the student to further advance their own education and/or standing in the community. There is no obligation of a teacher to choose an outstanding student, where they believe no student was particularly outstanding, meaning all of the students chosen are deserving of the award. A panel of Rotarians then interviews the students to select the overall winner.
The awards are considered prestigious thanks to the outstanding support of the Miller College Teachers and Staff, with Inga Milenkovic of Administration having coordinated the awards for many years. In 2011 we look forward to welcoming the following;
Aydin Seckin of Electro Technology/Electrical as nominated by Adam West and Weston Rofe
Justin Laird completing Sheet Metal/Cert III in Engineering Fabrication nominated by Kelvin Halls
David Fernandes completing Stonemasonry Cert III nominated by Michael Murray Landers
Nathan Wilshire completing Cert III Plumbing nominated by Dean Carter
Ngoc Thanh (Sally) Quan, Diploma of Children Services, nominated by Sherelyn Overson and Jillian Poynting-Gorn
Trent Steed of Carpentry & Joinery nominated by Brian Moran
Gregory Benge Cert IV in IT (General) nominated by Danilo Timonera and Allison Irvine.
We look forward to your support on this special occasion and attach our open invitation at $40 pp
We also attach advice of College Presentation nights, which also lists the last 4 overall winners.
