On Friday the 22nd of January I flew out of Sydney at around 5pm with a large group of exchange students. We went from Sydney to Singapore and then to Heathrow where we split up. This long journey was in Qantas’s brand new Airbus A380. The seats were comfortable, although there was not much legroom and there was plenty of in-flight entertainment. From Heathrow we boarded a Finnair flight to Finland

Bulletin Editor – this fulfilling job entails assembling the weekly Club Bulletin, loading it on the Club’s Internet Site for distribution and the printing and posting of 10 copies to Honorary Members and Technologically Challenged Members and Friends of the Club.

There are two RYDA days coming up in May and we need volunteers to help out at Penrith, it is a pretty full day, from 8:30 a.m.to about 3 p.m. The dates we need to cover are:



  • Tuesday, 11 May 2010; and

  • Thursday, 13 May 2010.


We will be taking names at next week’s meeting.

Doug up on Bourke is one of the largest sources of industrial, commercial, rustic antiques and hard core collectables in Sydney. Vocational Services Director Peter Houghton has organised this event limited to 32 persons and is now fully booked. The bus leaves the Liverpool Catholic Club at 5 pm promptly if you are making your own way the address is 901 Bourke St Waterloo.

Last night, over sixty members, friends and guests representing the five zone clubs (Liverpool, Liverpool West, Liverpool Greenway, Cabramatta & Wetherill Park) attended the inbound Canadian Group Study Exchange presentation at Liverpool Catholic Club.

From the outset, it was obvious that our Canadian guests were thoroughly enjoying their time here. They mingled freely with guests while displaying their gregarious nature, a point that had not gone unnoticed by those who had already met, or in some cases hosted the weary travellers.

We promised a gastronomic feast that would tantalise the taste buds and tonight, that is exactly what The Bach Dang Restaurant delivered. Forty members and their partners from both our club and Cabramatta Club enjoyed good food, good wine and good company, before finally wishing Peter & Kay Farrell all the best, as they embark on a new phase in their lives.
