These two committed Salvos updated us on the work they have been doing with disadvantaged youth in our area through one on one counselling and organised youth camps. Our club has again achieved excellent attendance to our Tuesday night dinner meeting. Tonight, over 20 members and guests listened to Vice Chairman of The Australian Jockey Club, John Cornish speak on the major development which is planned for Warwick farm Race Course. As a local boy himself, John is highly enthused at the prospect of being involved in a project that is going to benefit the million or so people currently living in the Fairfield, Liverpool, Campbelltown corridor. RYDA – Rotary Youth Driver Awareness
There are two RYDA days, for local High Schools coming up in May and we need volunteers to help out at Penrith, it is a pretty full day, from 8:30 a.m.to about 3 p.m.
The dates we need to cover are; Tuesday, 11 May 2010; and Thursday, 13 May 2010.

What is RYDA?
The Program targets “awareness” and “attitudinal change” and seeks to encourage year 11 students, who are on the verge of driving

Last night we enjoyed the company of past District Governor Barry Thompson, from the Rotary Club of Padstow. Barry gave our club some food for thought when he discussed Rotary’s new initiative on Club leadership and administration. Although the new concept is not compulsory, yet, the ideals certainly present a case for change that may or may not be adopted in the near future. Barry highlighted the effects

This month had lots of things happening; it seems to be a trend.

The biggest/most exciting thing was going to Sweden. I took a plane with my host family to Gothenburg for the synchronised skating world finals. Our team, “Team Fintastic” won by a fair amount, which was wonderful. The girls all celebrated and screamed their lungs out. We were there for two days and in the daytime I got to look around the city and see some sights including some very old churches and a military aircraft museum in a retired secret underground hangar. That was pretty cool. There was also an exhibition on Bollywood
