Green Valley Police Youth Camp – Constable Mary Bakijovski – LCC, 6 for 6.30 pm

As listed under Projects on our website: “This annual youth camp organised by the Green Valley Local Area Police Command take local teenagers who have come to the notice of the command on a weekend camp. The police officers volunteer their time to work with these kids and have had great success in building ongoing relationships. This camp has proved its worth year after year with a virtual zero re-offend instances”.

TONIGHT’S MEETING –
Tues 5 July 2011 – Casula Physical Culture Club – Linda Whyte – LCC, 6 for 6.30 pm
Now in its second year of operation, Linda will come to our club to give us an update. Last year our club sponsored the programme assisting in the subsidisation of the cost of members from families that struggle financially.
We also look forward to welcoming a contingent from the Cecil Hills High School Support Unit who will receive a donation towards the Cecil Hills High School weekend away for 35 disadvantaged children.

TONIGHT’S MEETING –

Club Donations – On 7 June we gave Frank Hankin of the St Vincent de Paul Liverpool Night Patrol a Cheque for $5,000.00 to assist with costs involved with feeding and supplying the homeless around Liverpool, which Frank has been doing for nearly 20 years and for which our club has been supporting him for approximately 12 years.

Tues 31 May 2011 – Miller College Awards Night – 6.30 for 7 pm, LCC Function Room 2
Our 31st annual Awards night is a partners, guests and friends night. Nominees for outstanding achievement will be treated to a meal for themselves and a guest and will be presented with a plaque and a cheque for a $250.00, before unveiling the overall winner who will receive an additional $250.00 and have their name and faculty added to the honours list board on display at the College.

Tues 3 May 2011 – the Gift of a Smile – Barbara Wall - LCC, 6 for 6.30 pm
Barbara Wall Rotary District 9690 Interplast Chairman will attend to speak at the Liverpool West Rotary club and tell members of the wonderful work that Interplast does in the Asian region.
Barb Wall is a member of the Rotary Club of Upper Blue Mountains Sunrise and an ex-squash Professional having turned professional in 1973, the first Australian woman to do so

Sunday 17 April 2011 - the bi-monthly event was held in Freedom Plaza Cabramatta and was one of the more successful to-date. In excess of $5000.00 was donated. Ted Mlynarz reports with Photos. Drs William and Hong have their say too. Looks like an enjoyable time was had all-round.

TONIGHT’S MEETING –
Tues 19 Apr 2011 - “Liverpool West PhD Scholarship” - LCC – 6.30 for 7 pm
Partners Guests and Friends Night - $25.00 pp
PhD Scholar: Rayan Saleh Moussa will present on ‘The Role of Metals for Treatment of Cancer’ - and development of novel anti-tumour agents for the treatment of melanoma".
Rayan is supervised in her studies by Professor Des Richardson at the University of Sydney, of whom our club has been a long time supporter.
Dr Zaklina Kovacevic B.Med.Sc. (Hon I), Ph.D., Post-Doctoral Researcher, Department of Pathology, is then a co-supervisor of Rayan and will also provide a short complimenting presentation. Guests then include: Prof Des Richardson and Kelly Martinez, Research Officer from Australian Rotary Health, whom will present a plaque to Rayan on this night. We also welcome as guests District Governor Elect David Cook and our Assistant Governor Veronica Necyporuk.

By the 14th December we had 1003 official members. This has given us one year’s grace. It is inevitable that we will be part of a major re-districting as of 1 July 2013. Many discussions are taking place and a plan must be to R.I. by 15th March. I will keep you informed re developments.

TONIGHT’S MEETING – Tues 14 Dec 2010 – Youth Exchange Update from Henni Niemi and as well we will have a visit from Kay Morris and friends.
Henni will report on the first half of her 1 year stay in Australia as she settles in for the festive season. Kay Morris has 4 special friends in whom she believes are taking her out for a Christmas outing and should be somewhat surprised to find herself at our Rotary Meeting.
