Programs

Miller College Awards

We have been involved with the college since its foundation in presenting and award which consists of a plaque and a cash prize to the best student from each faculty of the college. They are nominated by the college based on their performance in their course. The club then interviews all nominees and selects one for a further cash award and their name is entered onto an Honour Roll of Students which is displayed at the college.  An Award presentation dinner is held and all recipients and a guest are invited to attend. Members of the club also attend the College presentation nights to present a Certificate of Achievement.

School Service Awards

The club provides these awards to in excess of 40 Primary and Secondary Schools in the local area. Each school is asked to nominate a student to receive this award who is not necessarily the best student but the best “School Citizen”. Each nominee receives a Certificate and a book.

Pride of Workmanship Awards

Each year the club calls for nominations from the community of people who give that little extra in the performance of their jobs, it may be that little bit of extra help to customers, it might be for pride in their jobs. The awards recipients and a partner are invited to attend a special presentation dinner as guest of the club and nominees received and engraved plaque.

Police Officer of the Year Award

Each year in conjunction with the other Liverpool Rotary Clubs the club hosts a Gala Dinner to present the Annual Police Officer of the Year Award. Nominations are sought from the local Community for Police Officers serving with the Liverpool  and Green Valley Local Area Commands. All nominees are invited, with their partner to a gala dinner and presented with a certificate. A committee drawn from each club judges the nominations and a special presentation is made to the person judged to be “Police Officer of the Year”.

This concept which was developed locally has now been adopted throughout Australia. The Combined Rotary Clubs of Liverpool Police Officer of the Year Award was first presented in 1999. It receives wide financial support from the local business community.

Annual Children’s Variety Circus

Each year the club stages a free variety circus which is held in the grounds on the Liverpool Catholic Club over 4 days. Up to 14,000 children, teachers, carers and others attend this annual event. Funds to stage the Circus are raised from the business community. The event was first staged in 2002.

Annual Charity Golf Day
Each year, in  October the club holds the Alec Muggleton Memorial 4 Ball Ambrose Tournament at Camden Lake Side Golf Course. With around 20 teams competing in 2010 we raised over $9,000, Proceeds of the day are used to provide community support and fund club projects.
Alec Muggleton was a Past President of the Club.
