Meeting 25 January 2022

We were back at Mounties for our first Members Meeting of 2022.

Apologies were received from Rinna Ly, John Pillay, Greg Gibbs, Sam Capra and Pranesh Ram.

President Ted Mlynarz presented two awards:

Tissa Perera was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of the work he is doing with the 3 RAWCS Projects in Sri Lanka which are supporting students to complete their education and for his other work in various areas of the Clubs operations. Tissa spoke about the Projects and current conditions in Sri Lanka,

Alan Hall was presented with a certificate form the President of Rotary International recognising

his 20 years of service to Rotary.

Peter Beadle reminded members of the arrangements for the trip to the Powerhouse Museum and Lunch at Nicks Seafood on 20 January 2022.

Secretary Jim Rudling asked for volunteers to support the District Australia Day Plant a Tree Project at Bunnings Casula on Australia Day.

RYPEN (The Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment)

Date for 2022

The dates have been set for RYPEN 2022, now to be held on 1, 2 and 3 April 2022 at Teen Ranch.

RYPEN is for young people aged 14 to 16 and caters for teenagers who have shown qualities and application in everyday life which deserve further development.

RYPEN uses the common bonds of learning, co-operation, and friendship to design activities which facilitate trust and self-esteem. RYPEN seeks to broaden each participant’s horizons culturally, socially, and academically, providing the inner foundations for a strong future.

The Club conducts and exciting raffle at each meeting.

Tickets are $2 each or 3 tickets for $5, 8 tickets for $10, 20 tickets for $20.

We have a good selection in wines for the major prizes and some other fun prizes.

Members Raffle Jackpot is $10.

It can be won by a member if they win both 1^st and 2^nd Prize in the Raffle.

A doctor that had been seeing an 80-year-old woman for most of her life finally retired. At her next checkup, the new doctor told her to bring a list of all the medicines that had been prescribed for her. As the doctor was looking through these his eyes grew wide as he realized Grandma had a prescription for birth control pills.
"Mrs. Smith, do you realize these are birth control pills?"
"Yes, they help me sleep at night."
"Mrs. Smith, I assure you there is absolutely nothing in these that could possibly help you sleep!"
She reached out and patted the young doctor's knee and said, "Yes, dear, I know that. But every morning, I grind one up and mix it in the glass of orange juice that my 16-year-old Granddaughter drinks. And believe me it definitely helps me sleep at night."
