Past President Jim Rudling advised that John Pillay and the Feed the Homeless Team were in Martin Placeon Monday 2 June 2025, and provided support to around 150 of the City's homeless. Logistically it was a bit different this month because of VIVID but appreciated by those we helped.
Bunnings Sausage Sizzle - Cross Roads Casula - Last Sunday was our last time at this site as they are closing down. We had a good day selling out around 3pm. Thanks to those who worked, including Riley Cooley - the student the Club is sponsoring to sail on the Windeward Passage Sail traing ship from Newcastle to Eden later in the year. We no go into a period of Winter hibernation before our next Bunnings Sausage Sizzle in October at the Bonnyrigg site.

International Service Director Ted Mlynarz reported that the WeCare Team are in the floating Village Cambodia providing cervical screening tests and free papilloma virus injections to the poor.
Immediate Past rPresident Tissa Perera eported on the meeting held to establish a Refuge for Women and Children fleeing domestic violence in the Liverpool LGA. The refurbished facility will be able to provide for up to 70 women and their families per year in a secure environment until they are able to reestablish themselves safely in the community. Thisusually involves a stay of up to 3 months.
Our club will look to support this project and consider a fund raising event to be held in 2026.
Tissa also reported on the progress to date of establishing a Interact Club at James Busby High School.
Our Guest speaker was Heidemarie Schooling a dedicated teacher who has been working in Tanzania. Around 15 years ago our Club supported Heide in renovating the :Utawala School - this was what she thought the name was at it was what was on the gate, in Swahili it means Administration, the actual name was Mwampalala Catholic Secondary School. She gave a detailed presentation giving us an in site into the difficulties that the children have in getting the most basic of education in the poorer ares of East Africa. And the achievements of her students despite the adversity.
A group of forty have established a foundation the purchase land and built a pharmacy. Construction id well under way and she is raising funds to help with building the roof.
Heidemarie published a book :the Class of 2008" detailing her experiences and the achievement of her students which she give to people making a donation to help with the roof. A number of members in attendance on the night contributed to this effort.
Membership fees (as invoiced) can now be paid by cash or card at meetings or deposited to the Clubs account
We will be back in Martin Place in June distributing meals, drinks and clothing to the homeless of our City. If you are able to assist in any way contact President John Pillay.
Donations of food and good quality clean clothing would also be appreciated.

RYPEN, The Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment, is for young people aged 14 to 16 years and caters for teenagers who have shown qualities and application in everyday life which deserve further development.
RYPEN uses the common bonds of learning, co-operation, and friendship to design activities which facilitate trust and self-esteem. RYPEN seeks to broaden each participant’s horizons culturally, socially, and academically, providing the inner foundations for a strong future.
