We had an enjoyable night with apologies from Peter Beadle, Joe Cauchi, Alan Hall, Frans Buskermolen and Geoff Gibbs.
President Sam updated members on his discussions with Youth of the Streets and on the progress in sourcing a generator for the catering van being operated by Turbans 4 Australia.
PP John Pillay confirmed that the toilet and shower block we funded in Wiadradra Village is now fully functional and was officially launched by the Health Minister. Thanks to the Rotary Club of Suva North for partnering with us in this project.
We started planning the next visit to Narromine which is scheduled for the first week of April.
Members of Truc Lam Zen Centre raised a significant amount at this year’s Tet Festival.
It was a hot weekend and they were supported by many of our members and while because of the heat meal sales were down donations were generous. Funds raised will be shared equally between the RAWCS Bushfire Appeal and our Drought Assistance appeal.
Rotary National Bushfire Appeal Project 68-2019-20
We have all seen the disastrous fires that have erupted, taking lives as well as destroying hundreds of homes and properties across Australia.
Rotary is once again taking the lead and looking to provide support for families in need. To this end several Rotary Districts and Clubs have established projects which are ready and able to accept donations from you. All of those projects can apply for funds from this appeal.
The major objective of the MHM project is to develop school as menstrual hygiene management friendly zone, supporting Rotary goals for basic education and literacy. The specific objectives are as follows:
Girls’ access affordable, hygienic and eco-friendly reusable sanitary pads.
Girls are able to manage their menstruation with dignity and reduce school absenteeism rate during menstruation.
Improved knowledge of menstruation and reproductive health among school teachers, parents, and local entrepreneurs.
Develop local enterprises through MHM kit and support for livelihood development.
On 21 December 2019, an educational forum on Reusable Eco-Friendly MHM Kit Distribution and orientation on MHM program was held in Thaha Municipality Makwanpur.
On 22 December 2019, an Orientation Program on MHM at Shree Jhamkeshwori Secondary School, Makwanpur attended by 118 people and 100 Reusable Eco-Friendly MHM Kits were distributed at the school.

On 10 March 2020 Noor Jarbou will be guest speaker. Noor is the recipient of an Australian Rotary Health Research Scholarship co-funded by our Club.

Cops and Kids Touch Football – Thursday, 9 April 2020
Brown’s Farm Reserve. First Avenue, Hoxton Park. From 9:30 to 2 pm. The Police arrange all the sausages, onions, bread rolls, fruit and water we just need to prepare, cook and serve and be on site around 9:30am finishing up around 2pm with our BBQ Trailer. As in the past members of Liverpool and Liverpool Greenway may also be able to help.
Annual Circus Extravaganza – Friday 29, Saturday 30, and Sunday 31 May 2020 in the Grounds of Bossley Park Sports Club – members will be needed to help on all days with marshalling and Sausage Sizzle.
The 96th Mungery Picnic Racesare set to race again on Sunday 5th October 2020 (October Long weekend). With one of a few dirt race tracks still left of the NSW country racing scene, Mungery's bush atmosphere will be sure to keep all racing enthusiast's entertained throughout the day. Set on the banks of the Bogan River, 40km South of Narromine, our race day includes a six-race programme with the first race starting around 1:45pm. As part of our Drought Relief Efforts we may travel to Narromine to assist the local Club who cater at this event.
