District Governors Official Visit to Liverpool, Liverpool West and Liverpool Greenway Clubs.
President Charles Hili welcomed Rotary District 9675 Governor Warwick Richardson, ADG Sydney South West Renga Rajan Chidambaranath, President of Rotary Club of Liverpool Rotary Club Barry Hancock and Liverpool Club Members and Members of Rotary Club of Liverpool Greenway to the Meeting.
We had apologies from Rose Prochilo (President Liverpool Greenway), Geoff Gibbs, John Pillay and Rinna Ly.
Secretary Ted Mlynarz read the "Welcome to Country" and PP Jim Rudling proposed to toast to Rotary and the People of Australia.
Harry Hunt (Liverpool Club) gave a brief update on the work being done out of the kitchens in his Motel to provide meals for overseas students isolated in Australia due to COVID and for the homeless and needy of the Community. Harry acknowledged the support he had received from the 3 Liverpool Clubs for this work which included the provision of takeaway containers, donations and assistance in the kitchen,
DG Warwick then spoke on District Matters, the eradication of Wild Polio in Africa and the 2021 District Conference, He also urged Clubs to continue donating to the Rotary Foundation which in turn return money back to District for Grants.
It was an enjoyable night, with Members of the 3 Club able to catch up. Our thanks go to the Mounties Club and their staff for providing a COVID Safe environment for us to hold this meeting and to the staff from "The Oven" who did an excellent job with the catering on their first night of operation following the renovations to the Bistro.
BOOK DONATIONS
Our Ambassador at Large Frans Buskermolen, with the assistance of Jim Leahy and Aki distributed sets on books to Buxton, Thirlmere, Balmoral and Tahmoor Public Schools. These towns were severely affected by Bushfire.
Frans and Aki are now continuing with this Project of behalf of the Club on the South Coast of NSW and at the stage have made deliveries to five schools and met with Members of local Rotary Clubs and Blaze Aid.
Proposed Merger of Liverpool Clubs
Informal Discussions between the Clubs have continued and the joint meeting with the DG last week was a chance to meet members of the other Clubs. The will be further opportunities in the near future and over the next few weeks,this will be discussed at Club meetings.
